Zinc is used in galvanising mild steel (which is prone to corrosion.) One way of galvanising mild steel is to pass it through a bath of molten zinc. The zinc forms as a thin layer of zinc oxide on the surface . This provides a surface that protects the coated material from rusting. Galvanised steel is used in applications where it is important that the steel does not rust.
Zinc Alloys are strong and hard making them ideal for machined, pressed, stamped and fabricated products.
